  • mountain-berry-flowers-ali

Evergreen and low-growing, this is a creeping shrub that can stretch to 0.5 metres (19.7 inches) although it is only about 4cm (1.6 inches) high. Moutain Berries are unmistakable with their bell-shaped pendalous flowers made up of white petals surrounded by red sepals. The flowers ripen to fat, harmless but tasteless berries. This plant is very often found in association with Balsam Bog in dry, sandy coastal areas.Found on East and West Falklands and also on neighbouring South America in Fuegia and Patagonia.
