Two-banded Plover Charadrius falklandicus Falklands 'Plover' or 'Two-barred Plover' . Plump little bird, length: 18- 19 cm (7- 7.5 inches); unmistakable with its black chest bar and narrower black band across the neck, and chestnut nape. Feeds on small invertebrates. Generally found near to coasts favouring low lying areas especially muddy creeks and sand beaches where it feeds. It nests in short grass or diddle-dee heathland up to 1.5 km inland. Breeding is between mid-September to mid-January often double brooding. Found in coastal regions of southern South America, breeding in southern Chile, Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia.
