Common (Magellan) Snipe Gallinago gallinago/ paraguaiae

Length: Cordilleran Gallinago stricklandii 30- 35cm ( 12- 14 inches) Falklands 'Jack Snipe'. Gallinago gallinago paraguaiae 25 - 28 cm ( 10 - 11 inches). The two distinct races are breeding residents on the Falklands. Feeds on invertebrates, mainly worms and larvae. 

Range: Although classification varies it is considered that there are three races of South American snipe. The Cordilleran and Common Magellan breed from the Falklands through Tierra del Fuego, and the Magellan regions of southern South America to 37°S in southern Chile and 45°S in southern Argentina.
