Magellanic Penguin Spheniscus magellanicus Length: 71 cm (28 inches) . Feeds on small fish, crustaceans and small squid taken by pursuit-diving. A banded patterned penguin that nests in burrows which it vigorously defends. Named for its loud donkey-like braying. Range: Falklands 'Jackass' Penguin' ,where it is a breeding migrant. Breeds on the coast of Chile from 37°S to the Magellanic islands and up the coast of Argentina to around 41°S.
